Nawlins!

My sweet husband got me a trip to New Orleans for my birthday. We had both been multiple times, but we'd never gone down there together. This was the view from our hotel room!

And this is Bourbon Street during the day.

And this is the view of Bourbon at night!

It was a great break and a wonderful escape from reality for a little while. Steve's mom was an angel and came to keep Kayt for us! And boy, did Kayt love her Meme time! I have more pics of New Orleans to come! Stay tuned!

Turtle Feathers

Look what Kaythlen got in the mail today! One of my best friends and her mom have started making hats, flower bows, and tutus! And Kaythlen was in heaven! She couldn't wait to get it on, so we went outside and took pictures.

I love this one!

The wind blew right before I snapped this one. I love her smile! She loved these so much, I might have to get them to make her some more! Thanks Rae and Mrs. Bonnie!

Happy St. Pat's!

Kaythlen woke up this morning (like every morning) excited about what she gets to wear! She's such a girl! I love it! I explained to her that it was St. Patrick's Day so she got to wear her shirt with green clovers on it. She asked me if it was Spring yet, and I told her it was almost Spring, but it as just St. Patrick's Day. She proceeded to do her "clover" dance, which just involved lots of shaking of multiple body parts (she dances a lot like her Daddy these days).

Every girl needs a St. Patty's Day bow, right?

I thought she looked awfully cute! And I even remembered to wear something green too! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Weekend Woes

While I would have loved to spend my weekend this way . . .

I spent it doing this . . .

All for the price of this!

Gotta love it when Poppy does taxes! Thank you, Dad!

There she is . . .

My little Miss Arkansas (or Mississippi)! Kaythlen racked up on dress up items this weekend. Steve and I realized that of all her toys, the dress up stuff is what she uses the most. We decided if she was willing to use it, and if she was a good girl, we'd hit the stores. Apparently, she was REALLY good!

She has tiaras, sashes, scepters, microphones, shoes, earrings, rings, and the list goes on and on!

I think she just makes the cutest queen!

Diaper Cake for a Boy

God knew what he was doing when he gave me a girl. I just seem to do better with them. So, it was natural that my first diaper cake was for a girl. I showed pictures of it to some girls I work with and got hired to make one for a boy. Umm . . . .I was temporarily stumped. But, then the ideas started flowing. I came up with three. This is the one Kayt picked for me to do. The little boy's name will be Jaylin. What do you think?

I used more things this time and it wraps all the way around, but the back is mainly travel bag items.

Green, blue, and brown always work for a boy, right?

I hope she's happy with it. I was more confident with the girl one. She doesn't need it until Thursday, so I might hang onto it for a few days and see if I decide to make any changes. Any suggestions?

Hit the Road, Jack!

The weather was absolutely perfect today! The sun came out, the temperature went up, and we went outside! It was great! Kayt was so excited to be able to drive her car. Steve charged the battery while she took a nap, and we were set to go when she woke up.

In she went . . .

And there she goes!

Umm, she doesn't so much look where she's going.

If this is any indication as to how she will drive in 12.5 years, she will NEVER get a license!

We decided to try the bike too.

Even with training wheels, she wasn't comfortable without Daddy holding on! What did you do with this fabulous day?

D-D-D-D-D-Dora!

Kayt's Daddy got major bonus points for this one! He went by Chick-Fil-A one day and saw an advertisement stating that Dora and Boots would be there on Saturday. We got Kayt up and ready and told her we had a surprise for her. She was a little scared when we first got there. Loved that Dora and Boots were there . . . wouldn't go near them. We decided not to wait in the massive line for food if she wasn't going to at least say "Hi" and headed out the door. Umm, that didn't go over well. After out melt down, calm down, and Daddy talk, we tried again!

I think it worked well the second time around! Dora was swamped. We decided to just have a picture made with Boots, but as I snapped the picture, she was an angel and leaned right in! Many thank-you's Dora! Kayt loved it! And she even got ice cream for being so brave!

Diaper Cake 101!

Today I tried something new. I'll let you be the judge as to whether it was a success or not. One of the girls I work with is having a baby girl. I'd add her name to the post, but she hasn't made up her mind yet. She "thinks" her name will start with a "K", but we will see. Drives me nuts! Apparently, I'm a planner. hehe

The nursery is pink and brown.

The crown is a little jewelry box that I painted to match her room.

There are extra bottles in the middle of the cake that the Mommy will get to keep as well.

Hope it works with the other things our co-workers are bringing as the centerpiece of the table. I'm thinking it could have used more baby items, but I'll remember that for next time!

Night Snow

Here are a few pics from our last snow a few weeks ago. It was almost Kayt's bedtime. She was already in her pj's and we looked out the window and it was coming down like crazy. We just had to bundle her up and let her run around in it for a few minutes! We'd been out in it a few days before, but by the time we woke up, it was finished. She thought it was cool to try to catch it on her tongue. I didn't manage to get a picture of that, but here are a few I did get.

She really wasn't too sure about it at first.

She and her Daddy were brave and got out in it. Mommy stood on the porch (out of the wind) and took pictures. At least she has one parent who doesn't dislike the cold!

Isn't it fabulous? Okay, that's enough, I'm ready for Spring!

Spring has Sprung

So, I've had about enough of Winter. I'm ready for some sunshine! I've moved beyond the snow. I've been wearing Spring colors for the past couple of weeks thinking that just maybe I could entice it to come around. And I decided my house needed some Spring colors too!

This is what my dining room looked like before . . .

And this is now! Ok, so it's still a work in progress, but it makes me happier! I think it's still missing something. Napkins, for sure, but it still looks too empty. Any ideas?

I got the colored plates from Target's Spring line. Love them!

And I was really happy with the way my tulip arrangement came out. I need a better camera, but you get the idea. What are you doing to bring in Spring?
