Pajama kinda day

It was one of those Sundays...the kind of Sunday that you can kick back, relax, and avoid putting on real clothes all day long. My girls spent the entire day in their owl pj's. I'm totally into owls right now. They have pj's, outfits, and I have all the goodies to make owl bows as well! So excited!

Kayt spent lots of time playing on the computer. It's hard to say "no" with all the educational websites out there. As long as she thinks they are fun, she can have at it. I know the day is coming when I will have to fight to get her to do this!

My blue-eyed-girl spent lots of time playing on the floor. Gone are the days of sitting and snuggling. If this child is awake, she's rolling, scooting, climbing, etc. It's constant!

And I just had to share this pic. She looks so excited! She was playing with Emma, our 90lb lab. They're best buds!

I did get my run in today. Moving on to week 2! Hope your Sunday was nice and relaxing as well!

So far, so good!

This morning we got up and went to Jag Day. The local high school had a carnival to raise money for the band. Kayt loved it. It was great, until the sun came out from behind a cloud. Then we melted. Go figure, since I put up all the Spring/Summer clothes yesterday and filled the girls' closets with Fall/Winter stuff. I should have known better! Kayt also got ice cream to celebrate an entire month of staying on "green" at school. We used to do it by the week, but we're moving on up in the world (and trying to eat a little bit healthier). We went here. It's not too shabby! Of course, Steve and I had to partake in the celebration as well....it's only right!

We got home and instead of cleaning, I donned my running gear and headed out for this:

The Couch-to-5K ® Running Plan

Yep, I did it! Day 2, Week 1....all three days of week 1 are the same. Just gotta hit the road tomorrow and I'm down a week. Hopefully it will stick. I'm sadly very out of shape....and it's only been a month since I worked out. Gotta get this weight off and firmed up for the cruise we have planned in a few weeks! I'm so excited!

And so it begins....maybe

I used to run. When we first moved to the Memphis area, I had nothing else to do with myself, so I got the Couch to 5k program loaded up and off I went. I worked up to the 5k distance. Once I got to the point that I could run a mile or two without dying, it was a HUGE stress relief for me. Then I hurt my ankle trying to increase my speed. Then my best friend moved here and I decided that it was WAY more fun to work out with her than run by myself. Needless to say, I couldn't run around the block at this point if you paid me to. Alas, my friend is leaving me, and it's back to running. Mainly because I'm too cheap to pay for a gym membership right now. Plus, I'd love to be able to run a 5k with these beautiful girls one day!

Isn't it crazy that I'm going to torture myself in order to set a better example of health for them? The things mothers' do for their children! Ha! Admittedly, I have been saying that I was going to start running for a few weeks now. Maybe since I'm posting this, I'm finally ready to start??? Maybe not...I'll keep you posted!

Nacho Family Reunion 2011

This weekend we attended the Nacho Family Reunion 2011! We loaded up the sick children (Kayt wound up with an ear infection on Friday...her first since she got tubes at 2 and a half) and drove to Petit Jean Mountain in Arkansas. This was our second annual reunion. It started out as a fun way to get friends together and became a "reunion" of sorts. The Not Your Family Family Reunion is now the "Nacho" family reunion. Easier to say, and let's admit, much funnier. Last year we had 6 families. This year we added two...almost three but there were complications with the third family. We gather together to "camp" out....I put that in quotes because anyone who knows me knows that camping is SO not my style. We hang out in three, three-bedroom houses that just happen to be further removed from civilization than I'm used to. On the agenda this year were multiple activities. All pics are courtesy of my friend, Renee's, facebook page. I didn't take many, and no one else has posted any for me to steal yet. Thanks, Nae!

Saturday morning starts out with a hike. The kids LOVE to hunt for bears in the caves!

There is always a rock to climb.

How cute are these four?

There are lookout areas.

Water sports are always fun...someone please teach my child how to slip-n-slide!

After hiking and water games, there's the annual kickball tournament. Harrison got a good lick on this one!

Joedy working on his pitch...I have to say we did have to switch pitchers, but only because his shoulder was sore...not because he was awful at it. This game is SERIOUS. Injuries are always incurred! If you get in the way, someone WILL take you down. This year, Steve's team was victorious. Sadly, all the old folks were sore on Sunday! Ha!

And some of us prefer to watch on and snuggle (or chew on a closed mountain dew bottle...your choice).

Hope you all had a great weekend! When I can steal more pics, I will share!

Sister time!

I have to brag about what a fabulous big sister Kayt is! How many people are okay with having their hair pulled an a consistent basis?

Kennedy thought it was fabulous to ride on Kayt's back. She only tumbled over the top once. I was quite impressed!

Kayt loves our dog, Emma!

Can you see how gray Emma is getting. My poor, old puppy! Kennedy looks for her every morning. She grins and giggles when Emma follows us around.

We have a very exciting weekend planned! I hope to get plenty of pictures so I can tell you all about it next week!

Kennedy is 8 months old!

Hooray for my sweet, 8-month-old girl! Here's what you are up to lately:

*You are on your second ear infection for your right ear and your first for your left ear. I feel so sorry for you! But you are SO sweet about it. No fever, no pulling on your ears, nothing. You occasionally get a little fussy, but who could blame you.

*Your are growing so much...except when we went to the doctor yesterday you had lost 1/2 a pound. Can't imagine why, my sick little girl. You were 19lbs, 7oz yesterday.

*You have learned to sit up by yourself. I will come to get you out of your crib, and you'll be sitting up grinning at me. I know soon I will walk in and you will be peer at me over the ledge!

*You can't quite crawl, but you can scoot. You got so mad when we were at Auntie Alison's last weekend and you got on her wood floor. Every time you tried to scoot forward, you went backwards. You were not a happy camper!

*You moved up into a new classroom at daycare. I figure you will watch those other babies and be crawling/pulling up/walking in no time!

*You are trying finger foods, but you could seem to care less. Practice makes perfect, though.

*You don't like to be held when you are sleepy. You want your bed (and both of your paci's...one for your mouth and one for your hand). You get very fussy if I don't go put you down when you think you should be.

*You do NOT like medicine. I feel so bad that you are having to take so much of it right now.

*You think necklaces are great fun to play with and that your bows are chew toys. You refuse to keep them on. This is KILLING me since you own hundreds of them!

I'm so proud of all the things you are learning! I just hope we can get those poor ears clear so I can hear you say "Momma" soon! I love you so much, little one!

Happy 5th Birthday, Kaythlen!

Happy Birthday to my five year old! Kaythlen turned five a week ago today. Shocking, I know, that my post is a week late. I mean, theoretically, I'm WAY early as compared to my norm! You can credit this post to Kennedy having an ear infection in both ears and the meds that appear to have knocked her out for the duration! Ha! I digress.

Here is my BIG girl! I honestly cannot believe she is five. Although, I will say that I am dealing much better with five as opposed to kindergarten. She had a gymnastics party this year. She REALLY wanted Chuck-e-cheese, but she was easily converted. We went together to pick out her cake and petifores (sp?).

Kaythlen picked a "sea creatures" theme. She loved the seahorses and seashells.

Kate, Tara, and Tayla looking all pouty for the camera. We were SO happy that Tara, Ricky, and their twins came up from Arkansas for the party. We LOVE having them visit!

Apparently, Kate loves it too!

My mom was a HUGE help with Kennedy. And Kennedy thought the springboard floor was great for bouncing!

I'm afraid to ask. All I can say is that I hope Tristin washed her hair when she got home!

And yes, Alison, you should know better than to think I wouldn't post such things!

Really, is it any wonder how Tara and I wound up falling in love with these hot beasts? Ha! I agree...we need sanity checks....now!

Kayt was so excited that her friends Ava, Izzy, Tayla, Maddie, and Tristin were there!

Who needs a bouncy house inflated? They are great for tackling when they are only partially inflated!

Even Marme and Poppy had fun!

And if the bouncy house gets put up, we'll just tackle Kate on the floor and then dog pile on top! I'm hoping everyone had as great a time as Kayt did. She slept like a log that night! Happy Birthday to my favorite five-year-old in the world!

Favorites

I'm linking up at Kelly's Korner for the list of favorite blogs. Her's, of course, is the one I read consistently. I also love Jenna's Journey. She reminds me very much of myself at times, only she has two boys and I have two girls. I also am addicted, and somewhat biased, to LIVE from La-La Land. My cousin has recently moved to Cali and taken a job with a casting company. I'm living vicariously (sp?) through her. Plus, she's just so stinkin' funny!

I'm hoping to find more blogs to read, and thus, excuses not to work! Loving this SUYL Friday!
